Wedding Photography

Philosophy

It’s easy to imagine: the flowers, the family, the dress, but what happens when you want more than your imagination and memory to deliver images of that most special time?  That’s when you open your wedding album and relive the moments that shaped the day you said “I do.”  Therefore, making sure those images are captured for all posterity becomes of the utmost importance.

Anyone can hear the words, “you may kiss the bride,” and raise his camera with a click.  But few photographers are adept at capturing everything else.  I pride myself on my approach to each wedding I shoot - never thinking of it as just another job, but instead realizing that this could be the single most important day of your life and you have graciously invited me to be a part of it.  I spend time not only getting to know you, but also developing a complete understanding of your photographic desires.  I plan each shoot, from bridal portraits to wedding party shots, but that is only half.  The real magic happens when you dont know that you have a camera pointed at you.  While everyone may have a practiced grin for the posed pictures, the real smiles come out during the father/daughter dance, or when an uncle tells a joke at the reception, or at that moment when you fully realize that you are now husband and wife.

Weddings are literally once in a lifetime experiences.  I accept the responsibility and feel honored that once your wedding day is over, the photos I take become the one tangible reminder of the feelings you experienced that day.  It brings joy to my heart when each couple opens up their album for the first time.  Laughter, tears, and moments they had forgotten about all come flooding back as they flip through the pages.

FAQ

1.  I don’t live near Sacramento, how much will it cost for you to shoot my wedding?
We will travel (almost) anywhere! So first realize that there is no specific rule about how much it will cost. In general, we will ask that you pay for our accommodations while traveling. Jeremy is an experienced traveler and keeps costs low. If air travel is involved, we will try to book our flights as far in advance as possible to guarantee the lowest cost. Please email us or contact us by phone to inquiry about the costs for your destination wedding.

It can be a scary thought hiring someone that is not local but there is an old saying, “you do what you’ve always done and you will get what you always got.”  I would be happy to lend my vision to portray your special day.  Thanks to technology, the possibilities are virtually endless.  Your pictures can be viewed electronically, wedding album layouts can be sent to you for approval.  And paperwork is sent directly to your email.  We can even have a video conference so you can see my smiling mug if necessary!

2. Your prices are higher than other photographers I’ve seen. Will you match their prices?
We cannot match prices. We put a great deal of thought into what we charge and feel that they are competitive for everything that you get. There are many factors that go into wedding photography pricing. The wedding photographer is also a landscape photographer, a portrait artist, an organizer, a digital imaging expert, an album designer, a negotiator, a travel planner and an all around connoisseur of fine arts. Our prices reflect our commitment to the craft of fine art photography, and to delivering the best images and highest quality albums available.

3.  I don’t see formal group shots on your website.  Does this mean you dont do them?
We will still take formal photographs of you and your family if you’d like us to.  We feel they can be an important part of documenting the history of the day.  However, even in that, we try to keep the focus on you and your wedding and will not interrupt your day any more than you would like.  After all, most people look their best when they aren’t aware of the camera.

4.  How far in advance do you book?
Weddings are typically reserved 8-12 months in advance but it varies from season to season.  A good rule of thumb is that sooner is always better.

5.  How do you work with your clients to be sure the desired photos are captured?
We work with you several times before the wedding day. Initially, we meet to select the wedding collection and solidify plans for the event. Then an engagement photo is taken, and additional information is gathered about your needs and wishes. Finally, a formal consultation is planned where the details of the wedding are discussed, a list of important photos are recorded, and special requests are made. By doing such detailed planning prior to the wedding, you can focus your attention on enjoying your day and let us focus on the details.

6.  How many photos do you take?
There is no limit to the amount of photos.  We will take as many as needed to cover the assignment.  A consultation prior to your wedding day assures that we share the same expectations regarding your wedding day. As a rule of thumb, I average around a 100 photos per hour after the editing process has been completed.

7.  How many photographers will be present at our wedding?
The wedding collection you select determines the number of photographers who will photograph your day. In some cases, larger weddings and higher wedding collection levels warrant a team of photographers, while one photographer is appropriate for others. We will work with you to determine the ideal solution for your needs.

8. Do you have a studio or do you work exclusively on location?
We offer the option of both studio and location photography. We can work with you to select the most suitable environment for your photography needs.
