Philosophy
We’re not your traditional senior portrait studio. Want something that is truly unique to you? Throw out the cap and gown portraits, knock over those cheesy “senior” props, and get ready for some sweet photos that stand out from the crowd.
FAQ
How does it all work?
First, we like to start with a consultation. This gives us a chance to see what you’re looking for and you a chance to get to know us. But, if you love our work and are ready to set up an appointment, just let us know when you are available and we will lock in a day and time to do your senior portrait session.
When do I schedule my senior portrait session?
The earlier, the better. We only take a limited number of seniors per season because of the time and care it takes for each individual and the prime dates fill up fast. As a general rule, most senior portraits are taken April through August. Keep in mind, it can take up to four weeks to complete your order after you’ve chosen your photographs, so if you’re on a deadline to get announcements or the yearbook photo done, book early.
What locations are available?
Anywhere. The great thing about us is that we don’t stick you in the same locations and the same backgrounds as everyone else. It’s up to you where to have your session. Why choose only one…lets bounce a round. We have both studio and location sessions available.
What is the portrait session like?
The session is anything but formal. Once we decide the location, we wander around that area looking for cool spots. This will make your session completely different from anyone else’s session. There is nothing less creative than seeing all your friends with the same backgrounds and same poses. Also, we suggest bringing someone with you…a friend, a sibling, whoever It is always nice having someone come along to make you laugh, help with ideas and lend a helping hand.
Before the session:
We ask that you do a little homework before the session. Practice a little in front of the mirror…sounds goofy but it works. Try on clothes and see if everything goes well before you come to the session. Get some ideas from magazines…poses you like and locations you like. Bring examples from magazines you like, then we can spend more time shooting and less time guiding. Make sure you don’t go tanning at least a couple of days before the shoot…many a photo session have been ruined by a tanning session gone wrong. Make sure you have a good nights sleep the night before. Lastly, have a good meal before the shoot. It will take more energy than you think modeling in front of a camera.
What to wear:
Bring whatever you want, but here are some suggestions. Make sure you bring a variety of clothing. I would suggest at least 3-5 changes of clothes. If you have an outfit that you love but your parents hate, bring it for sure! But also bring a few options to make mom happy. Bring lots of accessories; what looks good in person doesn’t always look good in photographs. Bring dressy clothes, relaxed clothes, even a suit & tie are cool, prom dresses are great too. Just remember it is better to bring too much compared to too little. Also, you might think about having your hair, makeup and nails done professionally prior to the shoot. Bring lipstick, powder and mascara for backup.
After your session:
About two weeks after your portrait session, we’ll meet again to view your proofs. We will go over all the images, explain the packages and answer any questions you may have. Once you choose your images, it will take about 4 weeks for us to fulfill your order. Most high schools have yearbook deadlines for submitting photos so check with your high school to find out what your deadline is for sure.
